My approach is a blend of research-based strategies and includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
As a licensed therapist, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help people see and better understand their whole selves. CBT is a strategy that helps people find connections between their beliefs, thoughts, behaviors and emotions. Sometimes we don’t understand why we think the way that we think or why we behave in certain ways. Our thoughts and emotions can be confusing and overwhelming at times. We can also act out in ways that don’t always reflect our values or beliefs. It helps to have a professional aid us as we comb through those thoughts and emotions that are distressing. While it can be painful at times to explore our past history (and childhood, which is where our beliefs come from), having a therapist sit with us in our pain, validate us, and assist us in drawing connections that explain why we are where we are at today is absolutely an invaluable, healing and liberating process.
